Please pray :) (duh right!)

April 12, 2007

My doctor is on the phone right at this moment trying to get me into the Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN. This is the number one neurosurgery hospital. I have a tentative appointment for May 10th, which is what was scheduled by the registration department, My doctor is calling to speak to one of the physicians to see if he can get me in next week.

I want to say a very large thank you to my Brother and Sister in law (Marks brother). Cathy and Jeff are going to cover our (Mark and I’s) flights. We will have to stay there for alteast 7-14 days. If this doctor says the tumor is removable, we will stay through the brain surgery and possibly do the rest of the treatment here- or we will be there for the duration of the treatment also. Please pray that the finances of this are covered- Our circumstances are already tight due to Emma Grace. Pray that we have wisdom when making the decisions regarding our finances, and that this would be an easy transition.

I have an appointment this afternoon with ENT at 3pm. My EEG went well (no results yet) There were parts of it I struggled through (breathe in and out very hard for 3 minutes… I about died from dizziness) but for the most part it was easy breezy. I hopefully will know the results this afternoon.

Off to wash this gunk out of my hair and sleep before my next appointment. Thanks for your prayers :)

One thing I have learned, is that God will provide finances, sometimes in the strangest ways. Many years ago, someone I had only briefly met once showed up on my doorstep with exactly the amount of money I needed to go on a mission trip, just moments after I told my mom I didn’t have quite enough to go. The money was due that morning, and we just didn’t have it. He showed up with an envelope of cash, a scripture verse and a hug. He told me that he followed the light to my house (which was not easy to find btw), and knew that he needed to give me the money for that trip. I never saw nor heard from him again after that, and some days I wonder if he wasn’t an angel in disguise. Since then, many other events have occurred in similar fashion, and we have always been taken care of in our deepest needs.
God will provide, and He will care for all your needs.

Yes! You deserve only the very best! And so the miracles begin…..

We love you!

Heather,

God’s answers are already arriving! The speed with which the medical community is responding is fabulous! The provisions are arriving and will continue to do so! Your faith is inspiring….and God’s promises are TRUTH! He will bring this to its final end, “The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and He knows those who trust in Him…He will make an utter end of it!” (Nahum 1: 7, 9b) Amen! And Amen!

That’s good news. It’s nice to know that your doctors are on your team and working hard for you. I hope you get into the Mayo Clinic asap and here is hoping for positive results on the tumor being removed.

That would be absolutely wonderful if it can be removed.

God bless your brother and sister in law too.

PRAYING!!

MY SIL was treated at the Mayo clinic for cancer, also, and although the doctors in her home town had given up on her and called her family in to say their “goodbyes”, she lives today and is cancer-free as far as we know. Her DH laid her in the back of his car and drove her to the Mayo clinic and she recieved wonderful care, there. God is in the details and He sure seems to be working out yours! YEA! Nothing like saying “brain tumor” to get the medical community to jump!:) (I am an RN..I can say that!)

Praying for you and your family today! Viv

Check your email….

10 Debra April 12, 2007 at 11:27 am

Heather,
I learned of your situation via Boomama. I am praying at the feet of Jesus for you and your family. My husband and I were talking about how people who suffer and experience life altering events more often experience a deeper intimacy with God. I believe that our God is bigger than this tumor and that He will be glorified. He already is being glorified through your honesty and your strength.
Much prayer and love being sent your way.

“It shall come to pass that before they call, I will answer; and while they are still speaking, I will hear.” Isa. 65:24 Hang onto God’s promise.

I will be praying.

12 Karen April 12, 2007 at 11:29 am

Heather, I just found your website a couple days ago. Just want you to know my prayers are with you. I can’t imagine what you and your husband are feeling right now. None of us can, but God knows, and he’s good and he is with you.

13 A Good Friend April 12, 2007 at 11:33 am

There is no better place than Mayo in Rochester. Do they have a place in the hospital for Mark to stay while you are there? Let me know what you need and I am sure there are many who can get going and help find resources. I know people in Minnesota who may know of resources for you while you stay there.
Prayers are going out all over for you!

14 Dee Dee April 12, 2007 at 11:34 am

Praying and watching Him answer!

15 Jenn April 12, 2007 at 11:35 am

If there is anything we can do to help – we are there – I was thinking of doing an auction or something – I mean they do them every day for other “causes” why not do one for our dear Heather?

Your in my prayers and constant thoughts!

I’ve had an EEG before. :) Yucky gooey goop. Sleep well… enjoyed chatting with you. You’re going to be fine! Praying hard.

28 Shelley April 12, 2007 at 6:32 pm

Heather ~ I live in Charles City, Iowa, which is about 1 1/2 hours away from Rochester. It might be a little far for your husband to commute daily but I would be more than happy to open my home to your husband (or any other family member or friend) if he needs a place to stay. My husband is a school teacher and I am a stay-at-home mom with two kids, Mitchell (almost 13) and Emma :) (11). Please email me if there is anything I can do to help out. My prayers continue for you.

29 Misti April 12, 2007 at 6:54 pm

Just want you to know you’ve been on my heart and in my prayers all day. Praying that God will keep you in the palm of his hands as you walk through this valley.

30 annb April 12, 2007 at 9:04 pm

It sounds like you have a good doctor who is doing everything he can to aggressively treat the tumor! With God to carry you and a good doctor beside you, how can there be anything but good results! I am continuing to lift you before God in prayer – you and your family and know that He will carry you through what lies ahead!

31 Melanie April 12, 2007 at 9:40 pm

33 Distybug April 13, 2007 at 8:20 am

De-lurking here…have to let you know that my ladies bible study is praying for you. I told them a little bit of your story and someone said,”It’s clearly spriritual battle going on.” I know you know this…but God is in control. We can’t see the big picture; He can. I’m praying for His peace to surround you and your family, and of course, for your complete and total healing.

34 julie April 13, 2007 at 12:34 pm

Heather, I live in northern B.C., Canada. God led me to you! I was Google-searching for an image of the cartoon character “Maxine”, which led me to “She Lives”, who recommended BooMama, who was asking people to pray for you. Next thing I am telling my family to wait supper while I read about Emma Grace and your latest news. It seems to me that your little family has had more than their share of challenges, my dear, and your faith in the face of these devastating circumstances is inspiring. We will be praying for you, and so will our church. Rest in God’s grace and trust that He is in control of every situation.

37 Shara Ferguson April 17, 2007 at 10:22 am
