Mayo Appointment Update:

Mark and I will fly out of Tampa at 6:30 am on Wednesday Morning. We arrive in Rochester later that evening with many stops in between. We have an open ended flight- and have an open ended reservation on our hotel or rental car. We will be in Rochester for AT LEAST 7 days, according to the Mayo Clinic staff.

My appointments on Thursday are as follows:
11:45- Neurology Exam by Dr. Joon Uhm
This will last almost 2 hours.

2:30- Neurosurgery Consult by John Atkinson
This will last about an hour and will entail discussion regarding treatment.

Please start now by praying for wisdom for these doctors. Please also pray for safe travel.

Pray for me, as I start to prepare myself for this. That my heart and my mind would be clear. That I would actively seek the guidance of those around me and my heavenly father.

Most of all, pray for my family- especially my husband, children and parents.

It seems so real now…

Heather, I’ve printed out the requests just as you’ve stated them. You’ll be surrounded with prayer for wisdom and peace, for safe travels, and for an abundance of strength and comfort to be with you and all of your family members. As this consultation draws closer I’m sure the intensity of emotions and questions increases as well.

Please be gentle with yourself. I know the Father is holding you in the palm of His hands, whispering words of love into your heart. And just as He tends to your heart He sees the hearts of all those who love you and hurt with you. I pray that all of you will find rest under the umbrella of His faithfulness, His grace and mercy.

You’re doing an amazing job of preparation and He goes before you — what a powerful combination.

    Heather,
We always find that if we write questions down before we go to any appointments, we are more likely to ask the questions and get answers. I’m not sure why, but I think that sometimes my brain gets rattled during a stressful appointment, and then I totally forget questions. I’ve even been known to be writing questions on my little piece of paper as the doctor is answering a different questions!

Good for you…ignore all talk about prognosis and life expectancy. They are only statistics, not a fact. And they hurt!

Praying for positive results from the third opinion~

    Song for the day
Matt Redman ~ You Never let Go

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death
Your perfect love is casting out fear
And even when I’m caught in the middle of the storms of this life
    I won’t turn back
    I know you are near

And I will fear no evil
For my God is with me
And if my God is with me
    Whom then shall I fear?
    Whom then shall I fear?

    (Chorus:)
Oh no, You never let go
Through the calm and through the storm
Oh no, You never let go
In every high and every low
Oh no, You never let go
Lord, You never let go of me

And I can see a light that is coming for the heart that holds on
A glorious light beyond all compare
And there will be an end to these troubles
    But until that day comes
We’ll live to know You here on the earth

    (Chorus)

Yes, I can see a light that is coming for the heart that holds on
And there will be an end to these troubles
    But until that day comes
Still I will praise You, still I will praise You

    Dearest Heather,

You don’t know me but I believe that one day (and for all eternity) you will! :)

You are close to my heart in prayer. Be strong. I wish I could venture down to Rochester to hug you (I’m in St. Paul) but for now, here are the prayers that strengthened my friend Tina when she was battling colon cancer. (Thanks be to God, she won.)

    Complete Trust in God

Do not look forward to the trials and crosses of this life with dread and fear. Rather, look to them with full confidence that, as they arise, God, to Whom you belong, will deliver you from them.

He has guided and guarded you thus far in life. Do you but hold fast to His dear hand and He will lead you safely through all trials. Whenever you cannot stand, He will carry you lovingly in His arms.

Do not look forward to what may happen tomorrow. The same Eternal Father Who cares for you today will take good care of you tomorrow and every day of your life. Either He will shield you from suffering or He will give you the unfailing strength to bear it.

Be at peace then and put aside all useless thoughts, vain dreads, and anxious imaginations.

    St. Francis de Sales

    In Time of Suffering

Jesus, do not leave me alone in suffering. You know, Lord, how weak I am. I am an abyss of wretchedness, I am nothingness itself; so what will be so strange if You leave me alone and I fall? I am an infant, Lord, so I cannot get along by myself. However, beyond all abandonment I trust, and in spite of my own feeling I trust, and I am being completely transformed into trust- often in spite of what I feel. Do not lessen any of my sufferings, only give me the strength to bear them. Do with me as you please, Lord, only give me the grace to be able to love You in every event and circumstance. Lord, do not lessen my cup of bitterness, only give me the strength that I may be able to drink it all. Amen.
    Lord

Help me to remember that nothing is impossible to prayer.

Because when I pray, I bring You close and when You are close, I am not alone or afraid. I call on You, and the world eases around me.

There is comfort for my hurt… and peace from my worries. As one door closes, I see another open wide before me.

So, let my whispered voice start each new day with the promise of prayer- certain that with Your name on my lips… and Your love in my heart… all things are ever possible.

    Prayer in Time of Sickness

    O Jesus, You suffered and died for us; you understand suffering;
    Teach me to understand my suffering as You do;
    To bear it in union with You;
To offer it with You to atone for my sins
And to bring Your grace to souls in need.
Calm my fears; increase my trust.
May I gladly accept Your holy will and become more like
    You in trial.
If it be Your will, restore me to health so that
I may work for Your honor and glory
And the salvation of all men. Amen.
Mary, help of the sick, pray for me.

    Dear Heather

I am glad you spent the time with your parents and keep in mind all of the love and prayers we are sending your way. I wanted to share something with you that happened to me this weekend. I don’t know if you recall this or not but you gave me an angel ornament not too long ago. I was gong through a very diffiuclt time and you said the angel would watch over me. Even though Christmas has long passed the ornament sits on a shelf where I pass by and see her everyday. I remember your care, concern and prayers for me and my family and I find comfort in that and more importantly I find comfort in the faith you share with me. This past weekend there was a garage sale and I had pulled boxes and things out that I have not seen for a very long time, some for years. A friend who was helping me set up my tables began to unpack a box of things. She lifted a large porcelain angel from the box. As we stood talking I recalled the person who had given me the angel and I was torn on what to do with the angel, should I put it in the sale or should I find a place for it in my house? My friend looked on the bottom of the angel and saw its’ name was Heather. My friend is a Christian and aware of your health and family from both my telling her and from online. Without saying a word she handed me the angel. I walked in the house and placed her next to the ornament you gave me. You know I don’t believe in Karma and my faith is not always where it should be - which is one of the greatest things your friendship gives me. Angel Heather will sit on my shelf until I see you next and then she will be yours. Be brave and know that there is so much love and prayers going up for you and your precious children, husband and parents. Please know that you constantly in my thoughts and my prayers. I know that you know God is with you and he will never forsake you. You are a dear friend and I am privileged to know you. Safe travels and I am praying for the best possible news for you!

    Heather,

    My sister in Christ

Two verses came to mind after I read your story. Doctrinally the apply to the Jew, but because of Christ, we get in on the blessings as spiritual Jews!

Is 41:10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

Is 43: 1a-2 Fear not; for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine. When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee; when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

In the craziest of ways, as He often works, you are having your prayers answered. “Especially Heather-I want God to work especially in me” Your life’s verse …”the fellowship of his sufferings…” He is performing Rm 8:28 Phil 1:6 Being confident of this very thing that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:”
He is getting you ready for I Corinth 1:4.

I will be on my knees for you sister, that’s a promise.

    Press towards the mark!!!

I would love to hear from you!
