24 hours..

Today will be spent with family. Tomorrow’s updates will come as soon as Mark receives word from the surgeons. Laura will be updating for us through out the day, and Mark hopes to be able to update tomorrow night- depending on how things go. I do not have a surgery time as of yet. I will find that out late tonight. I have been asked to be at the hospital at 6:30am tomorrow for prep and an MRI so, I would assume that I am the first surgery of the day (which I am thankful for, steady hands and an alert doctor are good things when it comes to brain surgery)

Thank you for your prayers :) See ya soon!

So glad you are nearing the surgery, so you can get past it.
Can you let us know (or have someone else do it) when your surgery time is narrowed down? Do they have any idea how long it will take? I’m guessing not.
Praying, praying. Praying today your day is blessed and your heart is calm in Jesus. May He give you strength and peace through His own Arms around you, and through your family. I’ll update our church prayer chain, that tomorrow is the day.

I sent out a mass email yesterday to all my friends and family linking them to your blog, sharing your heartwarming story and asking them to keep you and your family in their prayers (especially tommorrow morning). Tommorow when you are preparing for surgery, lean on the Lord (I know you will) and I hope you have peace knowing you literally have people all over the world praying for you.

Prayers are going up on your behalf literally all over the country, maybe even the world! God is good, all we have in this life comes from His generous hands. He ALWAYS protects His children.

I remember how Moses was hidden in the cleft of the rock as God’s glory passed by him. You too likewise are hidden, as HIS glory passes before YOU.

“Merciful, loving Father, extend your hand of protection, wisdom, guidance & comfort tomorrow. Better yet, let the MRI before the surgery show that every trace of this tumor is removed. As Jesus prayed in the Garden before His time of trial, “Not my will Father but yours.”

    Heather,
As I read your posts, I see that music really speaks to you, often saying what is already felt in the heart. I am the same way. God has given you a thankful heart, and I wanted to honor that in you today. In the midst of fear and uncertainty, you have chosen to claim the Truth that sets you free - it’s a beautiful thing. I wanted to share a song with you - I couldn’t find a video of it, or even a full song online, so I will just post the lyrics. It’s a favorite of mine: “Thankful” by Jill Phillips from her “God and Money” album (http://www.jillphillips.com/songs#). I hope it speaks to your heart as it does mine. Know that you are being prayed for, lifted up and covered, even as you read.

    “Thankful”

Even when pieces are neatly in place
A skip in my step and a smile on my face
Still I have things that I cannot escape
And I’m just so thankful for you

Here in a world where each day brings a change
One little move and our lives rearrange
But I can still cling to your words on a page
And I’m just so thankful for you

The love flows free that you dearly paid
I got off cheap and you took the blame
There’s only one thing I can say

    I’m thankful

Time marches quickly and seasons pass by
As the world we created just seems to unwind
But I look beyond to a much better life
And I’m just so thankful for you

You held me close when I pushed away
To let me know you were there to stay
There’s only one thing I can say

For the ways that you care
For the ways that you love
For the ways that you are
    I’m thankful

    I don’t deserve you
    I never will
    I don’t deserve you
    I’m thankful

    Blessings, hugs and prayers,
    Jen

    Heather,

I’m praying for you as you head into surgery tomorrow.

You’ve done a great job of sharing the reason for your hope over the last few weeks! I am certain that lives are being changed for eternity because of what you have written and shared here.

How awesome that you have shared both your fears and your hope. You didn’t surgar-coat the situation, yet you’re still able to trust God and live your life with an undersurrent of joy. What a testimony to those who haven’t yet found the source of that joy, but who are seeking for it!

I am praying that God continues to create a powerful testimony of His love, grace, mercy, and power through your life.

Remember the scene from It’s a Wonderful Life, where it shows the earth, and you hear all of those prayers going up for George Bailey? That’s what’s happening for you right now, sweet sister! Pretty encouraging, huh?

I’ll be waiting to read the updates to come. One thing I am certain of - God is on the move!

    Love in Christ,

    Heather,
I hope you read this before tomorrow. I have been reading your blog for quite some time but haven’t posted. Today, I MUST post this…
I’ve been reading a book by Jim Cymbala called “Fresh Faith.” The entire book is powerful and amazing, but at one point (pg. 121) he describes your faith by stating “But the persistent faith that holds onto God, enduring all the various situations of life no matter how difficult-that is something we need to ask God for more and more.” YOU ARE THAT PERSON, Heather!! Bless your precious heart, YOU ARE THAT WOMAN OF GOD!!! And here’s another comment he said (p134), “Instead of exalting Jesus, who came as a spiritual physician for the sick and unlovely, we are busy rehearsing all the commandments of God, as if that alone would change a single soul. We are giving people only the law, when what they crave is the love and grace of God.” Sweetie, you ARE exalting JESUS, throwing out seeds of what the lost crave-the love and grace of God. You are giving so much more than just the law, you are showing us how to be the saints that are made in His image every single day, glorifying Him in ALL things. You have blessed so many lives, more than you will ever imagine and God is rising from His throne clapping with loud applause and singing praises over your precious soul. Your life is a testimony to His goodness and greatness and your spirit is a testimony to His faithfulness. Praise His Name!

Guard my life and rescue me. Let me not be put to shame, for I take refuge in YOU. May integrity and uprightness protect me, because my hope is in YOU. Psalm 25:20-21

Thank you Heather for representing us Christians well. I believe your integrity and uprightness will protect you. And I believe your hope in Christ will bring you through successfully to the other side of this.

I lift you up before my prayer closet doors even close. Throughout the day, your name is lifted high to our loving Father who already knows my prayer before I utter it. When I blink, and move my hand, when I taste food and walk to the sink…when I do all these things that I daily take for granted I am asking God to please preserve these abilities for you.

I am praying over the hands of the surgeons, the watchful eyes of the anesthesiologists, the tender care of the nurses tomorrow as they take you into their care.

You are loved. You are watched over. You are on your way to putting this behind you. I praise God for the strength He has given you and your family and the strength that is to come in the days ahead.

Faithfully anticipating the good news that you are in recovery. And smiling as your eyes open.

I was impacted by Connie’s prayer (comment #32), and I agree with that prayer! Jesus, I pray that you would remove every trace of this tumor that the doctors would have to declare this a “spontaneous remission”! As I was praying for you Heather, Acts 20:9-12 came to my mind. I believe this is God’s promise to you and your family. That even though you have seen death’s door, and faced it, the Lord is going to restore you - this is not unto death. Verse 12: “And they took away the boy/Heather alive, and were greatly comforted.” That is His word to you. Be blessed and greatly comforted by His presence. Amen.

Dear Heather…You don’t know me but if you could page through my prayer journal you would find your name. I have carried you to the throne of grace and requested our Father to heal you and make you whole and well. I have cried out to Him for a miracle that would obliberate that foriegn mass from your brain without surgery and leave only healthy tissue. I have asked Him to explode His glory over your life and cause people to take notice of what Jehova Rapha is doing .I have prayed that men and women who have spent their lives acquiring medical wisdom and knowledge would be brought to the brink of their human understanding and allowed to peer over the edge into the boundless depths of His sovreign power, and yet my understanding is so small as to the circumstances God allows into our lives to bring forth good even when it does not seem good at all. So should that tumor still be there in the morning and surgery go on as planned,I pray Our God will be in control of every procedure that you undergo and God Himself will do the surgery using the human hands of the Surgeon. Will continue to keep you and your family in our prayers.

    Heather,
I was just driving to pick up my daughter and once again I found myself at the foot of the Throne praying for you. This song by Selah came on the radio and I added it to my prayers for you…

    Be Thou Near To Me
    Jim Brickman feat. Selah

O, Lord I come with heart here open
For in my hour of darkness I may be
Seeking the joy of love unspoken
O, Lord be Thou near to me

And the holy voices sing hallelu..
    Ever will thy reign be
As I wander through this life
O, Lord be Thou near to me

Though in this burden of my making
Yet in the shadows still a light I see
Maker whose love is not forsaken
O, Lord be Thou near to me

And the holy voices sing hallelu..
    Ever will thy reign be
As I wander through this life
O, Lord be Thou near to me

My heart has been hard and stone-cold for years, and I don’t even remember the last time I prayed. But I’m praying today…

You don’t know me, Heather, but you have touched me in ways you will never, ever know. And although I’m sure you’ve touched hundreds of others, I honestly believe (after having come to “know” you through your words) that if you knew I were the ONLY one whose heart you had touched you would be REJOICING! That is so powerful…

So be at peace today knowing that you have done what you set out to do…You have borne witness to the incomprehensible and unfailing love of Jesus Christ. And that your life has had meaning…if for no other reason (and I am humble enough to know that there are MANY other reasons!) than that you found one of God’s lost children…and started her on the path that leads back Home.

God bless you and your family, Heather, and grant you peace and healing. I will be praying for you…

    Heavenly Father,

I can only assume that Heather might be right now in surgery to remove her tumor. I can’t be sure, Lord, but you are. Father, we know that You have your eyes fixed upon Heather and each and every member of her family right now Lord, every one, wherever they are. Father, I pray that You would please bring them, each one, directly into their hearts, peace at this very moment. Please, especially be with Mark, as he is waiting, to bring him calm and Your inexplicable peace as he sits and waits on You. Please do the same for Heather’s parents and friends, dear God. And Lord, I just pray right now this moment for the children and their caretakers. Give Mark’s parents wisdom in dealing with the kids specifically today, whether they choose to keep them busy and occupied or whether the children, especially Easton, have questions. Lord, thank you, for working so quickly on all the logistics. Thank you for the swift action at an excellent facility and for pulling the family in so quickly to each be in their unique roles for this day. I pray that, even right now if Heather is indeed in surgery, please guide the hands and steady the eyes of the surgeons and the anasthesiologist, dear God. Clear the air from germs, if You will and give confidence to the entire team. Father, we know that You created and planned before time every single cell of Heather’s body. You knew the tumor would grow as she played innocently outside as a little girl and You knew when and where it would appear. And you know now the outcome. Please help us all to praise You whatever it is. Help us to remember to trust that this is all part of a PLAN. A strategy You developed before any of us even knew what salvation was! But Lord, You know the servant that Heather is, and the need of her children to be taught of You the way that she commits herself to do - and if You will, please bring her safely through, whole and with all the capabilities she’ll need to raise them up to You. Lord, mostly, thank You for ordaining me worthy to come before You with these requests because of Jesus Christ and His blood washed over me. By sending a willing witness to lead me to You when I knew nothing of You at all. Thank you for that friend and for preparing my heart beforehand to be willing to accept Your gift of Your own Son’s precious blood. Thank You for doing all it took to make sure that I would understand and accept the sacrifice of Your son and my most incredible Savior, Jesus Christ. And thank You, God, for comment #180. I rejoice with the angels over this woman. Thank You for letting me be a small part of “meeting” this faithful family. Please bless each one now, God. In JESUS most peaceful name, Amen.
