The Nana is how those I love the most refer to me. So to you, those who love my girl the most, you may call me Nana. Nana has brought beautiful Heather home to roost. She is recovering from a long plane ride and enjoying seeing two of the three E’s again (Easton & Eli) & Emma is an ever present force. For those of you who wondered how Emma did on the plane – there is a God! We prayed that Emma would be really good for the five hour plane ride to and from Minnesota and again he answered prayer. She was so good that I asked Papa to pinch me on the way home, I must be dreaming!
Heather has settled in to the “In Law” suite that we built on to our house for my father. My father is visiting his three other children while we get Heather down the road a little farther. We decided to have a cook out on Wednesday when we got home. We all needed something normal considering our last week. The kids played in the pool. Heather laid on the porch swing. Occasionally as I swam with the kids I would look at her and see the happiness in her eyes as she watched her children. Not to brag but she is one great mom and I know she misses being able to talk to them now. Laura came by and it was good to see as a mom how wonderful friends can be – thank you Laura for your support during our latest chapter in “God’s plan for our Life.”
Knowing that the kids would have questions we explained to Eli that mom had to take speech therapy just like he did to get her words back. That made sense to him and off to jump in the pool he went! Easton was very glad to see her mom. My little tom boy has been one tough cookie during this time. She asked me when we were swimming together after everyone had gone inside if Mom was going to be alright. It has been hard not to cry during this time – my job is to be the strong one and keep everyone moving forward – but my blue eyed girl made me cry in the pool – I told her Mom was more than alright – mom was perfect! As we began to clean up from the afternoon, I looked around and realized how blessed we were. Mark’s mom has blessed us by coming from Oklahoma and taking care of Easton & Eli for awhile. Papa loves Emma so much that he keeps her swinging on the tree swing that he built just for her (her favorite activity is swinging.) Mark is constantly caring for Heather and I see the love that they have for each other just with looks – words are not needed. God has truly blessed us.
What is next? Speech therapy, Occupational Therapy, Radiation, Chemotherapy, kissing babies, enjoying all that God has given us.
We will keep blogging as the days pass – It is important that you – all of you – who have blessed us so much with prayers, support and love know how much you mean to us and how grateful we are for all of you! Again, WE ARE BLESSED!
One more story from the Nana – On the way to the airport, it was a quiet moment with scenery that was calming and music that was uplifting. We were listening to a Nicole C Mullins CD and the song “One Touch” came on. Heather, who could not speak a full sentence so far – sang this song. I cried as I listened to my daughters voice singing praises to God. We could not find the video of this song – but please if you can listen to it – it will move you too.
We believe – we believe in prayer, we believe in healing, we believe…..

Sorry for the weird double comment. Just technical stuff.
Thank you so much that you all are including us in Heather’s recovery. It is an honor to pray for a sister in Christ.
What a beautiful, moving post. Still praying in Ireland for your lovely family.

So thrilled for all of you, I had no doubts!!!
Not sure how I found this blog, but have kept Heather in my prayers also, I wasn’t able to sendas much as I would of liked to( helping son to win custody of daughter that we are raising for him, he is active duty navy, but did give a twenty, and would like to ask that you all add us to your prayers, The mother is just unfit and well dad being in the navy will make it hard for him to raise her so we the grandparents get that honor, PLEASE add us to your prayer circle, and thanks in advance
Nana made me cry. It is so beautiful that your family has chosen to share your story. Thank you for continuing to let us be a part of God’s plan for Heather.

Nana, what a beautiful post. Thank you for the update. The more of your story I read, the more I see God working—you have an in-law suite?! How perfect!
God is doing a work in Heather. I’m glad we get to be a part of that miracle. I’m praying for each of you!
I’m so glad to hear from your point of view just how well Heather (and the family) are doing. Thanks for letting us be a part. God has a plan for Heather. We’re all praying and sending up good thoughts. Give her a big hug.
Wow! Heather is blessed to have a momma like you! It sounds like she’s got a wonderful family all around. Still praying…
Hi guys, I sure do miss the 3 “E’s” in our Kids Church classroom. It is so good to see you again even if it is only in the PICTURES. I am thankful for your great family and the care they are taking of you. We all are blessed just by knowing you and now by the words of your heart. Love you and miss you much, Debbie SJV
So great to hear from you Nana!!!
It is so incredible how much love and support Heather has! To have you all there, so close, so loving and so supportive – it is just beyond wonderful!
This will be a special Mothers day for all of you.
Still praying and watching our Lord being exhalted in the highest way.
Happy Mothers Day Heather & Nana
Wow. You are in good hands, Heather. I got shivers reading about you singing to that song. How amazing is God?!! Praying for your healing. All of our family (hubby and kids included… OK – minus the cat) are remembering you in prayer.
I don’t comment very often. But, I saw that on this post there are already 170 comments and I know on others there are more. What I wanted to say is this, for every commenter there are at least 20 more (or more) who are praying for your girl even though we don’t comment. How’s that for a totally convoluted sentence?
=)
Nana, thank you.
Have a Happy Mother’s Day.
Every day, I am more and more amazed by your family. May God bless you, dearest Nana. We are praying for all of you. Thank you for having the charity and thoughtfulness to keep all of us updated during this time in your life.
