Holding My Head High

I realize that I hadn’t posted a picture yet, so here I go…

This is me coming out of surgery. I am sleeping peacefully, oblivious to what just happened in my head. I went down to the ICU and slept some more, so I am told.

This is my incision. I had my staples removed today, which hurt like a big dog.

This is me today. I will lose my hair around the spot that the brain tumor was when I go to radiation. I am okay with that, a little sad but okay. All in all it is a small price to pay for complete health…

So there you have it. I have speech therapy this afternoon. And my mom is scheduling radiation for me as we speak. Im losing weight, but that is to be expected. Stress and not eating will do that to you! I will lose more weight when I go through radiation and chemo, so…. I need to eat more, but I have little to no appetite lately.

I am emotionally doing okay. I hear a song on the radio and I break down, but that is to be expected to. I want to be here for my husband and my children. I want to watch them grow old, get married and I want to have grandbabies. Oh how I want to have grandbabies…

I love my life, I love my husband. I love my children. I love my parents.

This is all for them. Because I wouldn’t be who I am today without them. I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.

I love my life…

I have been praying and offering my Masses for you, Heather. I was also reading Tobit a few nights ago, and since then have also been praying that the archangel Rafael will bring God’s healing to you as he did to Tobit and Anna, Tobiah’s wife!! Read it if you haven’t. I also think that when you get finished with radiation you should look into hair transplantation surgery!! It suely can’t hurt, and you’ll have one less thing to be sad about! I wish I could ease all your sadness…

  11. You look great, Heather! And WOW, how far they’ve come. I had brain surgery 18 years ago and THOUGHT I’d have an incision like that (even bought ribbons and bows to cover it). But when I went in, the orderlies came to shave my whole head! Right before going under, I talked them into shaving off only 1/2 my hair. They shook their heads, but agreed anyway. After the surgery I had the remaining hair permed and colored (it was the 80s, ya know), lol. Seriously, you look really good!

  23. Heather,
Your honesty and openess about all you are going through, show deep courage and strength. You remind me of a shepherd boy named David. Like him, you are facing this giant head on and though I know you must wish that you did not have to fight this particular battle, it is here and raging around you.And that being the case,I pray, that like David, you will run to fight your Goliath and like David you will rail against this unwelcome intruder and like David you will overcome in the strength and power of the Lord. I pray this giant of adversity will be totally defeated and destroyed and that many, many, many years from now, you will hold your precious grandbabies in your arms and tell them the story of how our awesome God healed you and that the lullabies you sing to them will be songs of victory.

  24. Heather, you remain beautiful, but I never doubted that. Staples from your head, OUCH!

Lady, you are doing awesome and inspire me to no end. Keep up your strength, eat and take care.

  25. Heather, you look awesome! 🙂 I believe just having surgery will cause you to lose weight and affects your appetite. Drink milkshakes with your meals, that will add weight to you.

Continue to pray for you and your family.

Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your Heart. Ps. 37:4

Thank you for sharing the photos and being so open and honest, you are an encouragement to all of us.

  26. Beautiful, beautiful pictures. Praying for you here in NJ.

  27. ((((((((Heather)))))))),
God created the world one day at a time. The “all” of creation was enormous and He *could* have spoken every last bit of it into existence all at once. Yet, He purposefully did it one day at a time.

And this journey you set foot on is enormous as well. And God can and will take you through it, one day at a time. Cling to the Lord of Heaven and earth.

Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgement that something else (Heather’s God and her family) is more important than fear. ~Ambrose Redmoon
