When I started this blog I had no idea that I would be a cancer patient. I had no idea that I would have radiation or chemotherapy. I had no idea that I would travel to Rochester MN and undergo brain surgery. I had no idea.
Now, looking back, I can see the hand of God all over my life. I can see him in the big things, like my ear infection and dizziness which required an MRI; An MRI which discovered a brain tumor. I can see him in the trip to Rochester and I can see him in the midst of my brain surgery.
I can see Him in the midst of my despair. I can see Him in the midst of my joy.
I want to share this with you, because I know that I know that my savior loves me. I know that I know that He has me wrapped in His unfailing love. Even when I cant feel Him, He is there and He loves me. He promises never to leave me nor forsake me, even though I have left Him many times. His love is steadfast.
Especially Heather. He especially loves me. I cant begin to fathom that, yet His word tells me so…
“Don’t be afraid, I’ve redeemed you. I’ve called your name. You’re mine. When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you. When you’re in rough waters, you will not go down. When you’re between a rock and a hard place, it won’t be a dead end— Because I am God, your personal God, The Holy of Israel, your Savior. I paid a huge price for you: all of Egypt, with rich Cush and Seba thrown in! That’s how much you mean to me! That’s how much I love you! I’d sell off the whole world to get you back, trade the creation just for you.” – Isaiah 43
I hate that I am going through this. I hate that my family is going through this, BUT He promises never to leave me or forsake me. He promises that I am His. He promises that He is my personal God. He promises…
And that is good enough for me.
You have ministered to me!

You are wonderful. Even though you have endured all that you have, you’re faith has not wavered. What a testimony. You have inspired me more than you can ever imagine.

You maybe a cancer patient but really, you are more than that. You are a hero–to your readers, to your family and I am sure to the medical staff at the Mayo Clinic. You have faced this challenge with such grace (and the grace that allows you to show your emotions and your fears); you are an inspiration. I don’t really believe in God above us, but I do believe in God within us and among us. Blessings.

What a God!
I can only grasp a teeny tiny bit of what you are feeling. Someone commented on what a testimony you are – especially to your kids. My mom walked through hard times seeing her mother battle with cancer – and saw her healed in a miraculous way in that she was given months by the doctors, but by faith and prayer of her church family, was given the gift of 20+ years until she was called home to the Lord. That instilled a deep appreciation and respect for prayer in my mother as she witnessed my grandmothers journey. My family saw my mother battle with cancer, once diagnosed when I was 18 months and again, when I was 19 years old. I saw her stand strong and tall even when all she wanted to do was drop out of desperation. I witness the testimony of my own mother and my grandmother through her, as she displayed the same characteristics and faith through her own journey. I hope I’m never tested in a way either of them were – but I do know that I have learned by example just as your children are learning from you – in the good and bad. It’s a wonderful gift to pass on – and you my friend are doing an excellent job.
