New Day…

I cant begin to tell you how much better last night was… It wasnt a deep sleep, but it wasn’t anything like the night before! I think that I anticipated being sick so I kept myself awake, which I will not do tonight. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of your suggestions, they (and you) really mean the world to me. Knowing that I can come here and ask means the world to me… I took your advice and took Zofran, and boy did it make chemo alot more tolerable…

Now on to the promised pictures…

I love this kid. I can’t imagine my life without her. To know that she has beat the odds and is still going strong gives me hope, and makes me proud! We had a great night Monday night, one that I will remember for a long time….

Heres to many more birthdays Emma Grace!

PS:I am going to radiation today at 10am, so please pray for that. And then I am going to a support group this afternoon at 5:30 for brain tumor patients, so please pray for me around that time. I am not sure what to expect, but I talked to a lady in the waiting room at my oncologists office who goes to a breast cancer support group at the same center. Pray that it would be a good experience for me. Thanks!

  1. Zofran is awesome. Please just eat a HIGH fiber diet. Trust me. ‘Nuff said.

  2. Zofran is a miracle drug, it works and has next to no side effects.

A few times when my son was sick even through the zofram, he went in for an IV with zofran and decadron mixed together.

Timing is everything when it comes to those antinausea drugs. It took us two weeks with my son before we caught our rhythm with chemo and alternating antinausea meds.

    Happy birthday to Emma Grace.

  3. Looks like a fun party! Happy Birthday to your daughter. You are looking great!

  4. Hi Heather, I had 28 radiation treatments in my stomach area. I didnt feel much until the last maybe 3 and I was very fatigued and light nausa. Zofran took it right away. I am on oral chemo now (Xeloda). I have found if I eat a meal 30 minutes before I take my chemo pills that it really helps with any side effect. I get slight nausa at times, but not all the time. I take this 2 weeks (twice a day) on then have a week off. The eating I think is very important. Bland foods also. Good luck, and my prayers are with you. Oh!, and Emma is adorable!!

  5. I hope your support meeting went well. There is something amazing being around people who just “get it” There is so much that is too hard to put into words, but people who have been there dont need the words.

I hope you find some comfort there.

  6. You are still in our prayers here. And your Emma Grace is just gorgeous!!!

  7. She is amazing, Heather! And you are too! *HUGS!*

  8. Hey sweetie-

Just thinkin’ about ya’, so thought I’d pop over and say Howdy.

Can’t wait to actually “talk” to you :)

Off to hook up for the night.

    Love you,

Emma Grace is just gorgeous. She looks so happy. I’m glad you all had such a great birthday — I’m even more glad you guys were able to celebrate this birthday. What a miracle. Happy late birthday, pretty girl.

The first day on a medication is always the worst; I hope that the side effects continue to fade. I hope that all went well with your support meeting tonight. You are amazing. Keep hanging on. You’re all in my thoughts.

  10. Such sincere sweetness. I’m glad you were able to enjoy the moment. And what a precious moment it was. Those are great pictures!

So glad the new medication is helping too.

  11. Heather,
Forgot to mention that you might ask about Aloxi, too. I found that that worked best in combination with the Zofran…

  12. Birthday party pics are such happy things. Thanks for posting them. We get to see 2 miracles in digital form!

still praying for your Mummy 😉

  14. Heather,
Its been a while since I have visited your blog. Wow, lots has been happening. Definitely will be praying for you and your family.

  15. Happy Birthday, Emma Grace! I showed your pictures to my daughter who is also a CHD girl who has far out-lived anyone’s expectations. She really enjoyed looking at your pictures. Your birthday is only a few days after hers! What a great time for special girls to have birthdays!

Heather, thank you for visiting my blog and wishing my daughter a happy birthday. That means so much to me. We cherish each and every day we have together and I know that you really understand.

    ((Hugs and prayers))
from one heart mom to another,

  16. hello, Donna in Ny asked me to pray for you, so I am.
judging by the comments, I am in good company, you have quite a gathering going here. Congrats on your new attitude and great outlook.
A day of life withing God’s love is worth more than a year in a fake Disneyland like existence. You are living in the real world, and doing great!
In fact, you are more alive than most people.

  17. So good to see you smiling. :) Glad you are doing better. Your blog keeps changing. I love red poppies. They are my favorite flower. Drop me a line if you feel like chatting. :)

  18. Praying for you.
Warning: Zofran constipates. BADLY. Now I don’t know how much you will be taking but 4-8mg/day is enough to back anyone up severely. You may want to take Colace or at least a good fiber supplement. I know, I know. ANOTHER pill???!!
Taking the Zofran probably won’t take away the need for the Compazine. Zofran stops the vomiting but often doesn’t stop the nausea, the Compazine will take care of the nausea. Take them both. Both are MUCH more effective if taken before you are barfy, not after and both are more effective if hydrated.

  19. Happy belated birthday, Emma Grace. We almost celebrated together, my bday was the 9th.

    Hugs to you and mom.

  20. Just able to check in after a long weekend trip up north.
