I decided yesterday morning not to shave my head until I have to… I still have the the back portion of my hair (from behind my ears all the way around) so when I wear baseball caps it will still be my real hair peaking out the back. I am also going to wear scarvy headbands to cover up the front for church (although I think I look plain stupid in them!) until my wig is here.
Pray for me today as I go get fitted for a wig. I want a wig with natural hair (A bit expensive, but I can use styling products on it like a straighting iron and blow dryer) It will take a month to six weeks to get here, right in time for me to be finishing up radiation.
Here is the style that I chose:

I decided on short hair because I want to be able to take it off as soon as possible!! I have had this hair style before and know what it looks like on me:

So there you have it… Thank you for all of your comments this past week (especially yesterday), It has been a rough couple of days emotionally, but being able to come here and read all of your supportive comments (and your emails)… It really does my heart good.
I’m off to get ready for my appointment…

Looks cute! Hang in there gal. He may know the number of hairs on your head, but it’s still your heart He sees… we’re all praying for you. You are beautiful… inside and out… and He loves you.

I know a girl who had a wig fashion show. She reveled in it.
I think your spirit makes you beautiful, Heather. You are the way God made you.

Dear one,
I LOVE it…girl, it’s totally you and you’re gonna look fantastic–as you do NOW! I’ve been praying for you early this morning as I took my walk…praying that the Father just wraps you with His everylasting love and grace and strength…I am praying that He girds up your mind with TRUTH and protects your mind from the thoughts/doubts/fears/lies of the Enemy of your soul. Dear one, walk with Him each day, moment by moment…trust Him because He loves you soooo much more than any of us every could. I asked Him to cover your family as well and that you would let them love on you and be your support system. Sister, I’m praying for you…keep putting one foot in front of the other.
Love and prayers,
Kari
Praise God for lemonade! And wigs!
Joy really does come in the morning!
TOO CUTE! You will look absolutely darling in it! I know what you mean about the scarve thingy. Not something I have mastered yet. How do others look so precious in them, and I look a little silly?
Have a great day!
You have to do everything possible now to make yourself feel good- that’s so important in getting well. I think you will look adorable- like you don’t already- but you know what we all mean when we say things like this. The important thing is to keep your spirits up and your hope alive- and feeling good about yourself is all part of that!
Love to you, Heather today…
xo
Ohh fancy, Post the pictures.

I woke up this morning with you on my mind…so I stopped by to tell you that God has you on people’s hearts…it’s like He is stirring us up to be praying and thinking about you. Isn’t that amazing? I think the wig is lovely. The first thought I had was how much easier the straightening iron will be…no holding your arms in an awkward position. The second thought I had was that when people see you at church, I think they will see how beautiful God’s child, Heather, is!
Blessings, Sister!
Holly
Absolutely beautiful. I think you will look GREAT with that wig. It does seem to suite you. I hope you will post a picture of you wearing it when you get it. I would love to see it.
JoAnn
The wig style you want is great. I’m sure it will be perfect.
Blessings and hugs,
Norma
Just FYI, when I asked my onc after chemo for a ball-park estimate of how long it would take to grow my hair back, she asked if I was talking “luxurious locks”. I told her “No, just enough to cover my scalp so I don’t have to wear a wig.” Her answer was seven weeks. At the end of seven weeks, I did have just enough hair to ditch the wig (which actually was a better color for me than my own hair–lol)
Hi Heather, good luck with the wig fitting today. I’m glad you found a style you like and look forward to wearing! I know from experience, being comfortable with yourself and your body is so important during treatment, so do whatever it takes to take care of *you*. I’ll be praying for you all day. Katie
Great new do! Beautiful smile!
Very pretty wig! Very pretty.
Keep your head up.
Super fantastic do! I have that hair style before and loved it – super easy and flexible – the pic of you with that hair style is so beautiful – that smile could out shine the sun
((Hugs)) for you Heather. You are beautiful.
frankly i think you look beautiful, both on the outside and the inside

Heather –
Great choice in wig style. Keep in mind that you might be able to find a wig of your desire for free! I know when I was considering wigs there was a place here in St. Louis that gave them for free! You might have some in your location as well. I chose not to do a wig soley because the wide 3 inch headbands / scarves covered the bald area. Your location might be different though.
Also keep in mind that you will not be losing ALL your hair only what the radiation rays hit. I think you already know that but some of your blogger friends may not. Temodar (chemo) for brain cancer patients doesn’t make you have complete hairloss. THANKFULLY!
I think you will be pleased with a wig,
Kate
It will look marvelous!!
7 Days!!!! lol
That wig is going to look so great on you! It’s so pretty.
You have the most beautiful smile. Keep smiling. I thought from the moment I came across your blog that you are one of the few who can TRULY pull off short hair and look GREAT. You are in our prayers.
That’ll be adorable! You have a “short hair” kind of face anyway. I have had my hair cut like that many times in the past few years and have really liked it. I can’t wait to see it on you!
You are beautiful, though, with or without hair. Inside and out.
Heather,
I just admire your honesty. You open your heart and soul and share it with us. I am in awe of you.
I am a hairdresser. I remember several years back….a lady came in with her young daughter…she took off her hat and she had 1/4″ hair but some long pieces here and there…let me tell ya…when we got rid of those this lady was beautiful. The pieces actually made her look “sick” to me…her daughter loved how she looked after and said she looked “cool”…she did…she looked like she wanted the look and carried it with pride…. I sympathize with what you’re going through…you’re in my thoughts and prayers. Thanks again for sharing.
oh that style is super cute!!!
Blessings,
Karla
((( hugs ))) For some reason when I come here, your blog starts at April 11th – I haven’t been able to find the latest posts. Hmmm… Still praying for you. I’m sure losing your hair has been difficult. D
