One Touch

Many of you read my moms post “The Nana Takes A Turn” where she tells the following story:

“On the way to the airport, it was a quiet moment with scenery that was calming and music that was uplifting. We were listening to a Nicole C Mullins CD and the song “One Touch” came on. Heather, who could not speak a full sentence so far - sang this song. I cried as I listened to my daughters voice singing praises to God.”

I remember that moment. I remember visualizing that I was touching the hem of his garment. I remember wishing that this was all just a bad dream and I would soon wake up. I remember crying in the back of the rental car, singing this song. I am crying now, just listening to it… The pain is oh so very fresh on my heart.

If I could just touch the hem of His garment
I know I’d be made whole
If I could just press my way thru this madness
His love would heal my soul
If only one touch

Its hard to believe that all this happened over a month ago, Its hard to believe that this is my life. But its even harder for to believe that my God didn’t know that I would be going through this, at this very moment. He was here before me, waiting for me.

Like the woman in this song, I too want to push my way through this madness… I want to touch the hem of his garment…. I want to hear Him say “Someone has unleashed my power”. I want to be made whole.

I want that so very badly…

But then I remind myself to not forget the small miracles that happened along the way. How could I forget them? I am alive, I have full function of my right side, I have my speech, I have been blessed with a loving and dedicated family, and more importantly I have the promises of my loving Savior… whether I am healed this side of heaven, I will be whole on the other side. I will mount with wings like an eagle. I will soar into the ever loving arms of an ever lasting God.

He never left me… He has never left me… and that is the one thing I cling to.

He will move heaven and earth to come rescue me when I call…

Sometimes the crowds we have to push through and reach past are our own fears or the words of a world who does not know Him as Savior, sometimes our hearts bleed and tears flow…but what I know is that He is Emmanuel.

Prayers for healing and wholeness continue, Heather.

You know I sit here a year ahead of you in the brain tumor battle, and I still have so many of these same thoughts.

I have a very dear friend also battling cancer and he says that each time he’s in the MRI tube he imagines he’s touching the hem of Christ’s garmet. It’s a beautiful thought.

    Heather,
That is an awesome song. I have never even heard of her. You touch my heart in an awesome way. I appreciate your dedication to the Lord. I am struggling with my faith, where to go to Church, be more faithful and my family. Thanks for your daily testimony. We are praying for you.

    Hey darlin …

Had the quarterly tests to determine how treatment is going. With the holiday next week, I won’t have answers til the end of the week. Also redid the PRA to see if a miracle has occurred and it’s coming down. That will be the week after next.

I hope you guys have an amazing, relaxing visit with family this holiday. Things came through and we signed on a house today. We move the 16th. It’s closer to that awesome med center we talked about, and it’s about 20 degrees cooler there. Praise God. I may get to venture outside.

Best news? It’s on an acre. God gave us our space again. I can’t wait.

Can’t wait to talk to you again. I miss you :)

Well, off to watch Bridge to Terabithia with the kids.

    Love you babe.

Heather, My real name is Lisa and I live in Arkansas. I found you through my sister Diane (at Diane’s Place). I now have you on my blog so that I can access your blog and see how you’re doing. I am praying for you and your family… And remember as I commented before..”with a face like that, who needs hair?” :) Funny thing, we are born with little or no hair and no clothes and yet the older we get, the more important we think they are…. :) I would say it is a girl thing but I think we both know better. One thing is for sure, God knows where we are and can find us and care for us in a heartbeat… and does so everyday. God doesn’t have to look for us… He knows where we are… And He uses us to help us find others…..It’s a miracle, I don’t know you and you don’t know me but you are my sister-in-Christ…. And He brings you to my mind for prayer… That’s God!!!

I LOVE that song. Love it love it love it, and have loved it from the first moment I heard it. In fact, I’m going to listen to it again now. What a beautiful song to minister to you - I’m so thankful it touched your soul, that He touched your soul. He is there for you.

Love just everything that woman sings, this one no exception. I have finally composed myself enough to be able to type a coherent thought.

I am so thankful that you are my sister in Christ, Heather, and that we strain to touch that same hem of that precious garment daily via our prayers, our thoughts, our behavior.

Praying for you tonight before I go to bed. May God wrap His arms about you and comfort you in the night watches.

    Heather,
Not long after Steven’s second surgery I was writing in his blog about healing. And it is so true that our emotional healing follow a similar path to the physical healing. Just as our bodies take time to heal, so does our soul. It takes time to process all that has happened. It takes time to accept the new normal.
But just as I wrote there, sometimes the healing that happens makes us stronger and better than before. Just as a scar is tougher than normal skin, our spirits are much stronger after we allow that healing time. Our lives are more focused, our love is deeper and our compassion is much greater.

It’s a process, and it takes time.

    And you’re doing amazing!

Well, I might just have to clear myself out a spot right here and have myself one good spell. Whew!

I’m kinda like Peach. I’m having to keep myself composed just to be able to write something.

Lord, I just want to thank You! Thank You for the work You’re doing in Heather. Thank You for giving her the strength to share what You’ve done for and in her. Thank You for helping her, loving her, holding her, hearing her, and being there before she got there. Oh, how we just praise Your name for what You do - when we don’t even know it’s You! Thank You for covering us. Letting nothing get to us that You haven’t allowed to come through You first. Now Lord, we ask that You continue with Heather through the last of her treatment. We ask You to continually be with the doctors, technicians, and therapists. Continue to give them the knowledge that they need to treat Heather and the other patients under their care. I ask that you give Heather an extra measure today of whatever it is that she needs. Help us to remain faithful as You are Faithful. Keep us sweet in our souls. Amen.

Dearest Heather, For the rest of the day now, that Sunday School song that we used to sing so many years ago will be singing in my heart,

She only touched the hem of His garment
As to his side she stole,
Amid the crowd that gathered around Him,
And straight way she was whole.

She came in fear and trembling before Him
    She knew her Lord had come;
She felt that virtue from Him had healed her.
    The mighty deed was done.

He turned with, “Daughter be of good comfort,
Thy faith hath made thee whole!”
And peace that passeth all understanding
    With gladness filled her soul.

You are the ill one Heather and yet you have again been an encouragement to me!

I hope that you don’t mind that I have copied and pasted this wonderful post on “Pilgrim Pals” Heather.
If you don’t, just let me know, OK?……love from Terry

It’s funny, Heather, how I always feel like I am the one who is so blessed whenever I come to visit you. Your words and strength are such examples for me of your great love for God that whenever I start to sulk about some little thing, I think of you and thank God for you!
    You are in my heart…

    Heather,
We are praying for you every day, you know I have been going through some health issues myself and sometimes I ask the Lord “WHY”? And I think he uses you to minister to people in different walks of life and situations where you have the answer, Jesus!!!! The name that is above all names and he is able to do above and excedding what we could ever imagine. I think it’s a trust thing, we have to just trust Him, and put each and every momen into His hands and he will carry you through. The song that comes to mind is by Tim McGraw ” Live like you we’re dying….not to be negative but to live each and every day as if it we’re our last. To love the Lord, our family and just life…..we get so wrapped up that we just need to enjoy what we have as you said. You are touching many lives by your website, and know a lott of people are being ministered to girl!!! Praying and Believing for your miracle. (((hugs)))

This song brings me to tears almost every time I hear it and I have listened to it a LOT since I heard it for the first time at the National Women of Faith Conference in San Antonio this year. (I live in Florida on the East Coast - Palm Beach County)

She sings with such passion, it’s so moving to watch, the dancer with the red ribbon, exchanged for a white pure clean (healed) white one was an amazing part of it too.

{{{hugs}}} - been away in England for 3 weeks visiting family, just got back, one of the first things I did was to check your blog for your updates :)

your sister in Christ, and a singer too - music is my passion!
