September 26, 2007
My dad has a blog, and I encourage you to read todays entry. I am still not feeling very well right now (chemo sucks the life out of me), so instead of writing about that, I want to encourage you to please go here and read my dads post, leave a comment, and bookmark him.
God has truly blessed me with a wonderful wonderful family.
Be back soon,

Caught up here now! ;)
You are so beautifully open and honest and crazy sexy and…remarkable!
May God’s hand lift you up in His strength today, and tomorrow, and the next day, and one day at a time.
Lord Jesus
wrap your arms of comfort around my sister heather, carry her through her weakness, embrace her with your love. Send her people to help her and minister to her. let your glory be revealed to her, for her at this very moment. Take away any pain or discomfort she may be having - simply love her- as only you can love her. Let her know that there are many out here praying for her and her family as they get through this. Lord, I ask that you touch her life, every moment of it and let her know how deeply she is cared for.
I enjoyed your dad’s post, and I’m praying you will feel better. :o)
Heather,
I needed your dad’s message tonight. Thank you for sharing. God Bless you. I hope you are feeling better soon.

Heather, I hope you get some energy really soon. I’m sorry you’re not feeling well. Thanks for the lovely link to your dad’s post. You bless me, so.
You have been so blessed to have such a wonderful Dad, full of wisdom. I am praying for you to feel better really soon and give your sweet body a time of restoration with rest. I always leave your blog with Jesus in my heart. He is all over here, and He is all over you!!
Feel Better and know you are loved by so many, and me too.

The love of God and writing seems to run in the family ! May God give you comfort and strength today. My dad was a Pappaw too.
I’m praying for you today Heather.
I am very close with my Dad, the same way you are. I’m going there to check it out and will add it to my blogroll I am sure.
Yep, chemo sucks!!!! - hang it there baby - what doe not kill you will make you stronger. Let this chemo kill those cancer cells and you will be stronger in return. Love yah!
I’ve never been through what you’re going through. But, I’ve often heard about how terrible chemotherapy makes you feel. Think of the exhaustion this way: If you’re feeling bad, think about how bad that nasty cancer is feeling! Those life-draining cancer cells are dieing off. Unfortunately, the “cancer killer” makes you tired, as well. But, in the end, in exchange for some temporary lethargy, they’re gone and you’re not!! Praise God that we live in a time when cancer can be found, treated and eliminated!
Just wanted to let you know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. I hope you’re feeling better soon. Take care of you!!
Hugs,
Amanda
Heather,
My prayer for you today is that your body will respond well to the chemo and that it will rebuild itself rapidly so that you can do the things you so want to do. I imagine that you are a very independent and energetic person and that being slowed down to a stop is very trying. May you find peace and comfort in this moment. You are such a inspiration…
Many Blessings,
Paula :)
Heather,
Thank you for sharing your life and your relationship with Jesus with us. You give me great perspective on my life and remind me what it is all about. You know how God uses all things for good? He is using you and this cancer to impact a lot of people for all eternity. Thank you from another person that will now be praying for you! Courtney (I was linked to your website from cottagebethy)
Heather, I hope you are having a great day and feeling strong. Hang in there…krista
Great post on your dad’s site.
Praying for you today!

Your dad has left encouraging words on my site but never left a link to his. Thanks for sharing him with us. It is easy to see the ground work was laid well for you in the Lord. You honor your Father and Mother well. Now rest and heal so we can say the same of your children to you in twenty years.

Heather~
I just came across your website tonight as I was randomly searching the meaning of our name “Heather”. I have been so touched by your story and your honesty in your struggle. I am praying for you tonight and that the Presence of the Lord would be so close that you could feel His Arms holding you tonight. I know you must be a very dear Child of our Lord for He has deemed you Worthy to suffer and join in and become more like Christ in this way. May you feel that deep connection with Him. I pray in your pain and in your sorrow, the Lord meets you. Here is what I found about our name which seems to fit perfectly:
When God first made the world, He looked at the bare and barren hillsides and thought how nice it would be to cover them with some kind of beautiful tree or flower. So he turned to the Giant Oak, the biggest and strongest of all of the trees he had made, and asked him if he would be willing to go up to the bare hills to help make them look more attractive. But the oak explained that he needed a good depth of soil in order to grow and that the hillsides would be far too rocky for him to take root.
So God left the oak tree and turned to the honeysuckle with its lovely yellow flower and beautiful sweet fragrance. He asked the honeysuckle if she would care to grow on the hillsides and spread her beauty and fragrance amongst the barren slopes. But the honeysuckle explained that she needed a wall or a fence or even another plant to grow against, and for that reason, it would be quite impossible for her to grow in the hills.
So God then turned to one of the sweetest and most beautiful of all the flowers - the rose. God asked the rose if she would care to grace the rugged highlands with her splendour. But the rose explained that the wind and the rain and the cold on the hills would destroy her, and so she would not be able to grow on the hills.
Disappointed with the oak, the honeysuckle and the rose, God turned away. At length, he came across a small, low lying, green shrub with a flower of tiny petals -some purple and some white. It was a heather.
God asked the heather the same question that he’d asked the others. “Will you go and grow upon the hillsides to make them more beautiful?”
The heather thought about the poor soil, the wind and the rain - and wasn’t very sure that she could do a good job. But turning to God she replied that if he wanted her to do it, she would certainly try.
God was very pleased.
He was so pleased in fact that he decided to give the heather some gifts as a reward for her willingness to do as he had asked.
Firstly he gave her the strength of the oak tree - the bark of the heather is the strongest of any tree or shrub in the whole world.
Next he gave her the fragrance of the honeysuckle - a fragrance which is frequently used to gently perfume soaps and potpouris.
Finally he gave her the sweetness of the rose - so much so that heather is one of the bees favourite flowers. And to this day, heather is renowned especially for these three God given gifts.
Your Sister in Christ,
Heather
wow, i love to read your fathers blog…i think i will pass by daily…
you have been blessed with a great father, not everyone is …
i am thinking and praying for you…I think of you often..
feel better soon..
God Bless,
lulu
Leaving some love and prayers….
Praying for you to feel better now.
I just visited the site and read the post. I was amazed at how God speaks to so many people about the same thing. Both my pastor’s wife, in SS, and my pastor spoke about being obedient to God when he speaks and how important it is to do what he says THEN, not later. This was a very timely post!
Gosh, it is October 1st already. I am praying for you to have a really “FEEL GOOD” week. I hope your body and mind have been getting restored as you have been resting. And your dads blog is in my favorites now. He is so open and honest (just like you are). Great Dad Heather, you are blessed with him in your life but I don’t have to tell you this. You KNOW. Thank you for sharing him with us.
Love, Laurie in Ca. ***Prayers and Hugs***
Praying for you!
I am spurred on daily by your silence to pray with fervency …
My children and I miss your entries! We look forward to reading about your days and family. I am hoping that you are resting and gaining back some strength after last week. We continue to lift your family up in prayer and pray for moments of joy and laughter that will stay with you through the hard times. Thankyou for letting so many people in on your story/family life.
Enjoyed your Dad’s writing! Something definitely to meditate on and think about!
I miss your insight and writings. Hope all is well and that you are feeling good these days!
Many blessings,
Jess in Nebraska

Since you posted one touch, I have been practicing to sing it ( with a tract) and before I sang It I shared your story - I will never look at that song the same way ever again. praying you are feeling HIS Touch!

I look forward to hearing from you…
Heather,
I have stopped before but not left a message and tonight I wanted to thank you. Your dad’s post touched my spirit.
I have read portions of your journey and I am sad…sad for what you are going through, sad that you feel lousy, sad that I can do nothing more than pray (which I will do fervently).
But…I am also happy… happy that you are a believer, happy that the Lord is walking this journey right beside you, happy that I can pray for you and that I can do that fervently. That is a blessing.
I am a Heather and I have an older brother Mark. Your site has captured my attention on more than one occasion and I thank you for sharing, it makes a difference.
Praying you feel better…
Hi Heather,

Heather,
I have been reading your blog for a while, probably since back in May, and have left a comment before.
I just want you to know, that you are in my prayers, and that you are an inspiration to me. You are so strong, and have been through so much. I hope that the chemo works and that you are back to your new old self soon.

Hey Heather, I haven’t commented in a while but have been checking in. Just wanted to say that I hope you’re feeling a bit better. May you draw strength from Him. Love and prayers, Linsey.
Praying that you are being restored during this absence and that good rest is your constant companion, along with the Lord and hundreds of us out here. I so hope the chemo is doing its job without being so harsh on you this time around.
You are loved and prayed for daily by me.

Hoping that all is well with you and wanting you to know that you are in my prayers daily, whether I find a new post here or not. I am reminded by the Holy Spirit frequently throughout the day to pray for you and often stop what I am doing to lift you up to our awesome Father in heaven.
I pray that your silence just means that you are enjoying feeling better and embracing the moments, and if not that God will hold you tight and love away all the bad.
Prayers and hugs…

Dearest Heather,
Is there someone in your family who could let us know how you are doing? We all miss you so much and don’t know whether to rejoice because you are resting and enjoying time with your family or if you are in the worst of circumstances? You are always in the hearts of your brothers and sisters in Christ. Please have someone update us if you can.
with love, christine
I’ve never posted, but I read every day. I hope you are able to return soon. You are definitely missed. Praying for you.
Miss Heather, boy have we missed you, could ya tell, lol, We understand
that sometimes you need a break. You have been dealing with so much
lately and always remember God never gives more than you can handle.
So you are teaching us all a lesson in living girl. We love you and we are praying for you and your family daily. I am so happy that you have a support group, you will definetly give to them, as you have to us. Sometimes it seems selfish to come here and try to give to you, and walk away taking a blessing. I wish so much that you know and feel our love and prayers and true desire for your healing. Girl you are amazing and God truly is living thru you. You make your family, parents and everyone proud by being who you are. I have a daughter and if ever she is faced with this, I only pray that she or I could put God’s grace in her life as you have. I continue to and will continue to pray and pray for your comfort healing and God’s love and guidance to continue to grow in your life. Sweetie I wish I could do more, know that we are here for you……I hope you have a better weekend…….and I pray for a comfortable mattress, and you sweet little daughters smile and comfort, and you have better time with your chemo next time….In our prayer daily
Hugs!!!
Sheila
Two thumbs up to in regards to Dress flower girl white! Wednesday I was thinking the exact same thing. This is a VERY interesting line of thought.
