Chemo brain is real!

Well, I just finished pouring my 3rd cup of coffee this morning. You read that right, 3 cups.

Not because I drank 3 cups, but because when I poured myself coffee this morning, I sat it down and couldnt remember where I put it (or if I had even poured it at all!) Repeat that 2 more times and you get the idea.

I just walked through my entire house and picked up the half full, still warm coffee mugs.

  3. Yeah, I’m working on finding my extra phone right now. Apparently it’s been gone for awhile because I can’t page it…battery is dead. Oh well…it’ll turn up! Hopefully!

I am praying for you. You are still one of my biggest inspirations.

  25. HD,
I know you always have Joy in your heart.
Reading and studying JOB is hammering me. He went through heavy depression and pain…all the while he knew who his God was. His friends left him and he felt like God had at times.

I’m so glad the HS dwells in us.

I think JOB might have felt the Lord’s presence more if only his wife and freinds put there arms around him and cried with him. HD, my arms will always be open for a good cry.

    with tears of JOY.
    Hubby

  29. You are so lucky to be able to tolerate coffee while on chemo. I couldn’t stand the smell of it despite being a huge coffee buff prior to my brain tumour and subsequent treatment!

  31. Hey Heather,
It’s normal….I still can’t find my MP3 player I layed down somewhere on Saturday…mine is due to old age though..Im over 40 ,LOL

  33. Don’t get down on yourself. Have a laugh about it and consider it a newly acquired eccentricity. BTW, I put my portable phone on my car bumper and drove off with it. Never to be seen again! I am sure the person driving behind me got a good laugh before it fell off!

  35. I don’t do it with coffee, but I do it with water. And I can’t blame chemo-brain.

  36. 4Avatars v0.3.1 v0.3.1
  37. I am doing that more and more, and I don’t even have a tumor. And, guess what, it gets worse with each pregnancy. After three I have nearly lost my mind.

On a serious note, I have just found your website through another blog and I want you to know that I will be praying for you.

  45. I have chemo brain too! Fun, isn’t it? Lol.

  46. 4Avatars v0.3.1 v0.3.1
  47. This must mean I still have chemo brain, and it has been 12 years. Yikes, that’s it! You gave me the excuse I needed since I just turned 60 and refuse to blame it on that!! I continue to pray for you sweet friend and hope that you are feeling better as treatments continue. Better meaning handling it better with less side effects. I hope you have the most wonderful Easter and blessed family time. I love you.

  51. Your post made me laugh and I could relate. This morning I was trying to make myself a latte. I couldn’t figure out why it was taking so long to brew. No steam was coming out and no coffee either. After watching me try to figure it out for a few minutes, my husband said, “You did put water in, didn’t you?” Oops. I hadn’t. I don’t even have the chemo excuse.

    God bless you!

  53. My Mom swears this is true! She constantly struggles with remembering people’s names. Even people she’s known for years. It makes me laugh!

  54. 4Avatars v0.3.1 v0.3.1
  55. That’s just a day in the life of my mom. She goes through more cups in a day than I do with 4 kids because she’s always putting her coffee down and forgetting where she put it.

  56. 4Avatars v0.3.1 v0.3.1
  57. Yes, Chemo brain is real. I’ve also had it since my treatment. It remains permanent in about 15% of breast cancer patients (only cancer group studied that I know of.) At least most physicians know it’s REAL now and we’re not nuts.

Of course I lost my car keys alot before chemo so maybe it’s me, too!

  58. 4Avatars v0.3.1 v0.3.1
  59. I know exactly what you mean. I am a 4 year breast cancer survivor and have experienced “chemo brain” many times. Hang in there Heather! God id so good!

  60. 4Avatars v0.3.1 v0.3.1
  61. I’m glad you are laughing. I’ve had chemobrain for the last 7 years and am unable to work or function as a normal person. Has anyone ever suggested anything that might help, or what happened to cause it?
