Steady As A Post…

Isn’t that awesome! He holds us steady as a post…. think of a post placed half heartily in the ground, it sways with the wind this way and that. Now picture ropes fastened to the post with stakes securely in the dirt around the ground. That is a visual of Jesus’ tight hold on us..no matter how hard the wind blows, the ropes hold tight.

But I like to go a step farther and picture the post clinging to the ropes for dear life!

I want to cling to Jesus for dear life. When ever the storm winds blow, I want to have my grip firmly on my Savior. Cancer, autism, heart transplants, financial struggles… nothing is to big for Christ, and I have to continually remind myself of that. Its moment by moment, step by step. But He gives me just enough strength to take the next step, He doesn’t expect me to borrow from the strength he gave me yesterday. He is already in my tomorrow, and He has foreknowledge of everything ahead of me. That can either freak me out (lack of control) or bring me unsurmountable peace.

Why would you ever complain, O Jacob,
or, whine, Israel, saying,
“God has lost track of me.
He doesn’t care what happens to me”?
Don’t you know anything? Haven’t you been listening?
God doesn’t come and go. God lasts.
He’s Creator of all you can see or imagine.
He doesn’t get tired out, doesn’t pause to catch his breath.
And he knows everything, inside and out.
He energizes those who get tired,
gives fresh strength to dropouts.
For even young people tire and drop out,
young folk in their prime stumble and fall.
But those who wait upon God get fresh strength.
They spread their wings and soar like eagles,
They run and don’t get tired,
they walk and don’t lag behind.
Isaiah 40:28-31 (The Message)

My God Lasts. He doesn’t get tired of me or my heartache. He doesn’t pause to catch His breath when I freak out. He knows everything about me, inside and out. He energizes me when I get tired. He gives me strength when I feel like dropping out.

He gives me strength.

“Be strong, do not fear;
your God will come,
He will come with vengeance;
with divine retribution
he will come to save you.”
- Isaiah 35:4

I am waiting Lord.

    Hi Heather, Just wanted to finally leave you a message to let you know how much your writings mean to me. My family has been going through some rough times lately with sicknesses and deaths. I look forward to reading your blog to see your perspective and be reminded of how important it is to remember that God is always with us, even when it feels like he’s not. I think you’re beautiful inside and out. I hope that you’re able to take the comments that energize you and allow them to lift you up, and let go of the other comments that detract (i know this is so difficult to do). I was sad to read that you were bothered by some of the comments on previous posts. I pray for you and your family every day. Blessings – Kathleen

    I like that, “God lasts.” I love that He also, ever lasts…which makes Him Everlasting! That song by Chris Tomlin, “Everlasting God” has taken us through some trials this past year. Just needin’ to know that my God lasts. Typing my rope of hope to Him.

    I just came across your blog for the first time and I’m blown away by you and your family’s story and hardships. What a blessing that your Faith is SO strong!

    I lost my son to brain cancer in 2005 and know how faith can get you through times that seem impossible to come through.

    I will be praying for you…praying hard for your whole family. Your faith is so inspiring. When times seem low, please remember that…that there are people who will read this story of yours and their faith in God will grow…that is a gift!
