So good to be home!

I am sorry that I haven’t updated, but I have been so exhausted! Emma is home now and is so happy to be reunited with her Little People!

I, on the other hand, am so happy to be reunited with my bed!

I start chemotherapy Monday evening, which will be my next to last cycle (only 2 more to go!). I can’t believe that I have been on chemo for 10 straight months, it seems like only yesterday that I was diagnosed and had surgery. My hair is still not back completely from radiation therapy… I have an old man bald spot the size of a baseball on the top of my head that is coming back oh so slowly.

I so miss my hair, yet the very thought of wearing a wig during the summer makes my head sweat… so I continue to shave it until it all comes back in.

Bald is beautiful, if I do say so myself!

(But I do miss it… did I mention that?)

Yes, Heather, bald is beautiful! I’m so glad that you’re almost done with chemo. Would you remind us what happens after these next two rounds? Do they just monitor your health or what?

I am so glad Emma and yourself are home again. I was getting a bit worried when there was no news.

I also keep my head shaved as there are about 3 spots where it is just not coming back fully and would look really odd. I’ve sort of got used to having no hair now and don’t mind it too much. My hair was so damaged and fine from 16 years of chemo maybe when I do let it grow back it might be a bit stronger and thicker, one can always dream. And to think all those years ago when I had thick black hair well below my waist, now it is practically all grey !!

Take Care enjoy some rest and enjoy your time back with your family.

Lots of Love Carolynn xxxx :-)

    Heather,
I don’t post often, but I do read and I do pray (for you and your family, including your dear husband who is, to me, a most amazing example of what MEN should be. He knows what commitment means and he knows how to live it out in good times and bad. I’m deeply touched by your entire family).

Just wanted to say I laughed out loud at your “bald man spot” comment. Heather, your ability to share your sense of humor, a gift from God, with the rest of us on this journey is WONDERFUL! I know you look forward to your hair coming back but I just want to say with all sincerity, you are BEAUTIFUL from the inside out.

Heather, i recall first visiting you last year, before your chemo started and i have thought of you and prayed for you since that time. During this past 12 months a personal friend has also endured many months of chemo, but for breast cancer and she is now undergoing radiotherapy. I am continually overawed by the way that she has handled it. I tell her that i am ashamed to say that i complain to myself about so much to do with my comparitively small ailments, she tells me that she did too. That somehow, well by the grace of God actually, she is able to endure that which she never would have thought herself capable of enduring.
