To wig or not to wig…

A woman’s hair is her beauty.
To go without it shows her strength.
-Anonymous

Okay, here is my delima. Mark has a big “Business Casual” Awards Banquet tonight, and I have my outfit all picked out…. except I don’t know what to do with my hair.. or lack there of.

I have been sitting here all morning trying to look at these two pictures and decide which one looks best, and honestly I think both of them look fine in their own way. I lean more towards “bald” because, well… its just me. But I also like the “wig look” for this event because I don’t want to stand out (too much!)

My mom said that everyone at his office has seen me bald for so long that wearing a wig would make me stand out… so I am bringing it to you.

Which do you prefer? Wig or no wig… that is my question.

I think that since you are finished with your chemo, you should wear the wig….kind of like a “new beginning”.

Whatever you decide, you will look awesome. Have a wonderful time at the dinner.

  2. This is Easton.

The bald one looks more like you, mom. I vote bald.
    Rock on!

You’re going to a fun, fancy thing. You should accessorize in a way that makes you feel happy and fun and fancy! That may or may not involve a wig.

Love how I don’t give you a suggestion … just leave you with more questions?!?

You look beautiful either way. Events like that are often hot and stuffy though, you might be more comfortable without the wig. Whatever you choose, just have fun tonight!

you do look HOT with hair  but I feel the same about the bald look. Bald is easy and not sticky humid.

    GO BALD

  6. Rebecca says:

You honestly look beautiful either way. I agree that the wig would make a hot and stuffy room even more miserable. I’d go with what *you* are the most comfortable with. Either way, you are gorgeous!

  7. Oh gosh, they both look good. When I first saw your Tweet, I didn’t know what to think about a wig, but it looks really quite natural. Honestly, I think you look great either way.

Sorry, I know that’s not much help.

By the way, I love Easton’s comment. How sweet!

You look beautiful both ways. You could think of it as a “casual ” vs “dressy” thing. I feel that on a day to day basis I am pretty casual, so
when I go out to a party, etc. I try to look a litte dressier. Which way do you feel dressier? I think you will look spectacular either way, but I vote on
    the wig.

  10. Jenni says:

I think I’d go with bald. Maybe find a pretty scarf for your head top match your outfit, but definitely not the wig. Be yourself– if you normally go without the wig, then why change for this? If they’ve seen you bald before, they are used to it, right?

    Heather
I don’t know if I am much help at all you are beautiful either way.

I guess the question I would ask you Is… which way do you feel that you are a better witness? OBVIOUSLY your guy approves either way….

    Have a blast tonight!

  12. Vicky says:

Well, I think you look lovely wigless. You have a great head shape and it highlights your utterly beautiful eyes.

On the other hand, you need to be comfortable to enjoy this event – so if a wig will make you feel more socially comfortable, or if bald will make you more physically comfortable, only you can decide.

As others have said, you will look great either way – so go for comfort!

I agree that you look beautiful whichever way you go. I admit though that maybe a cute scarf to match your outfit might be the way.
I’m so used to seeing you bald that its strange to see you with hair. Though you are beautiful in it. Your light shines from within and makes you that way.

Blessings and have a good time whatever you decide.

  14. Hi, Heather – here’s what you do.

Wear the wig, then in the middle of the dinner/presentation, whip that rug off and dance atop the table. Sort of a “I So Rock This Look” celebration. And it would be completely blog-able.
    Problem solved.

    Heather,
    I vote el…natural….
You are known that way by so many. If you need to add some glam you can always add glitter.

It is always your choice, but I say go with who you are.

  20. LeeJo says:

Dear, go whichever way makes you feel great. If a wig makes you feel off kilter, you will not enjoy your night as much, if it makes you feel glam, then you will enjoy it even more. Go with your gut.

  21. LeeJo says:

ETA, you are gorgeous both ways!

  22. Kathleen says:

That is a hard choice. I mean, even people who haven’t been through all you have gone through opt to wear wigs or hairpieces and many wigs nowadays aren’t hot a sweaty like they use to be. You look wonderful both ways to be sure.

One thing is for sure – if you opt to wear a wig you’ll look wonderful and if you don’t you’ll look wonderful.

I don’t think people will care one way or another and I don’t think you’ll stick out if you do or don’t. Or to look at it another way, you’ll stick out simply because you are a lovely and captivating young woman.

So, either way you win ? Hugs~

Well, I wore the wig because it made me feel more together. I didn’t like the way my baldness made me feel when others saw me, but you seem more comfortable. However, I agree with previous poster, it’s an “accessory”. You will be happy/comfortable with yourself either way, but I would feel more “special” for a special event with hair. Just thoughts from one who has been there.

  26. Siobhan says:

    Be you, be bald.

  27. Tough call – I prefer the bald look – but since I only found your blog since your you have had the bald look, that is what is “normal” to me!

LOL…we are all just SO helpful aren’t we? hehe It’s true though – you look beautiful either way. So, how do you feel more comfortable?

I guess my *opinion* is that if everyone has seen you bald and you feel comfortable than don’t wear the wig. But if you’re going to a room full of strangers, then you might feel more comfortable blending in with the wig vs having to answer questions all night. But I’ve never been in your shoes.

You do what YOU feel comfortable with. I think you’re beautiful either way. I actually was a little shocked to see you with the wig – took a few minutes of looking at it to get used to it! lol

Whatever you decide…I hope you have a great time and I can’t wait to hear how it goes.

  37. I’m with most of your other “fans” . . . do what you feel more comfortable with, because you truly look good “with or without hair” . . . you have such a prettily shaped head that your bald is quite beautiful! If it’s hot, I would probably not wear a wig, but whatever you choose to do just have a good time and dance!

bald is beautiful! Also, what does your hubbby say?

  40. Crisanne says:

For me, it depends on how/why you wear the wig. If for instance, if the wig feels like a piece of jewelry that completes the outfit, then wear it. However, if it feels more like the baseball cap I throw on to cover a bad hair day, then don’t wear it. Make sense??

I hope you have a wonderful evening with your husband. Blessings to you all.

okay, this is me and my thoughts but since everyone knows you as you are I would go bald. both are beautiful. really beautiful, but if you wear the wig you may spend more of the evening doing the ‘i like your hair’ conversations than just normal conversation. hope this makes sense. go bald.
