Twitter..In plain english

Okay, for those of you who have never heard of twitter (Honestly, I hadnt until the last month or so) here is a brief video on what twitter is about and how to use it.  I really enjoy it because it keeps me connected on days when I feel like I dont have much to say on my blog,  yet want to share what we are doing in homeschool or have a prayer request (like yesterdays MRI). Here is a youtube video explaining what it is and how it is used:

Now that you are familiar twitter, let me share with you the device I use on my computer to keep up with all of my “tweets” (that is, if you dont want to keep going to the website every two seconds!).  There are many different programs that allow you to keep up with your “tweets” (ie: messages) yet the one that I think rocks is Tweetdeck.  Here is an example of what Tweet deck looks like:

Here is a link for a tutorial: Tweet Deck Tutorial (it takes a little bit to load)

Links to other twitter applications: Twhirl, Twitterlicious, Snitter, Tweet-r, Twitteroo.

If you are a Firefox user, there are a ton of plugins for twitter here

My twitter url is www.twitter.com/espheather, and you can follow my tweets in my sidebar. Just click on “Chirp!”

Now go sign up and start twittering

  1. YES! I love Twitter!! It’s a great way to keep up…

Thanks for the tweetdeck tutorial. I am coming back after I get home today to watch that. I have seen a TON of peeps using it, but I didn’t know what it was. Hopefully it will be as wonderful as Bloglines was for my blog reading!

  3. So happy to see that you are Twittering! I think I added you yesterday. I have to admit that when I first heard of it, I thought it would be just another way to consume my time on the computer, but I’ve found it to be a fabulous way to keep up with all my friends in a shorter amount of time!

  5. LOVE LOVE twitter!! - and I see *ME* in your snapshot, in the middle of the middle row!! (can even read what I sent!! was on boynton beach at the time!!)

I send updates to my twitter from my CELL phone (and it updates my facebook status at the same time!) and I get my tweets sent to my cell too - it’s AWESOME

My kids/hubby will often say, “your cell phone is twittering again”
