Remember your word to your servant,
for you have given me hope. -Ps. 119:49
Today is Elijah’s 9th birthday, and it was only fitting that during my quiet time I read the verse above. (I’ll get to that in a minute) He is such a strong willed little man, arguing his point at every turn. Questioning everything, be it with homeschooling or while out in the real world. He always. ALWAYS. has a question. Last week it was about how the continents were formed (by earthquake and valcano, or by the flood or both) and if cave men really existed because it doesn’t talk about cave men in the bible.
As I answered those questions to the best of my ability (and then told him to call his Papa!), I remembered that sweet little quiet baby boy that walked before he crawled, and that starting out by eating steaks (okay, not really, but boy was he HUGE). I remember his bowed out legs (walking before crawling will do that, ya know) and how I had to push his knees in just to get his pants on him! I remember having to go to striderite and by 2x wide shoes for his gigormous feet.

Now, he is so very mature (albeit a little bit whiney when it comes to school) and he can come up with some pretty funny one liners when his sisters tick him off! Its hard to have a stern look when you’re laughing so hard! (Like when Easton declared in the car that she is “over” Hannah Montana… He quickly said “Who are you and what have you done with my sister!” CRACKED. US. UP.)
I remember him at my FIL’s funeral. He was the one that I was least concerned about because of his personality, but even before we walked into the funeral home, he silently started to weep, and didn’t stop until we were at his grandmothers house and he was playing with his cousins. When his dad asked him what he would miss about Grandpa, he said that he would miss the summers that he spent with him.
He loves LOVES Lego’s (thus the three huge 4 drawer storage containers in his bedroom that I spent all day Saturday sorting, and I am still not even half way done!) He is building a star wars city out of Lego’s on his bedroom floor. He often can be found on youtube searching for the perfect “video” to help him in that adventure. (I didnt know they made videos specifically to tell you how to build a droid to spec out of legos!)

Just a portion of Lego City

His Storm Trooper Costume
Ever since I was a little girl, I have always wanted to be a wife and a mother. When someone asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, the very first things were wife and mother. I always knew that this was my calling, to raise beautiful, emotionally healthy children. I always knew that I was meant to be a loving caring wife to the father of those children.
And I thank God everyday that he has given me this time with them.
Which brings me back to that verse up top. “Remember your word to your servant, for you have given me hope.”
He remembered.

Beautifully written. Just to protect my grandsons image, I dressed him in the Tutu to have a “Blackmail” photo for later.
I love you.
Happy b-day Monkey boy!
