I have often been asked what curriculum we use for homeschool, and honestly in the past we haven’t used just one. This year is a bit different, We are mainly using ABeka for every subject except for math for Elijah. So without further adieu here is our list:
Easton: Age 12

- Math: ABeka Arithmetic 6 Last year we did Saxon and although I LOVED it, her tutor and I felt like it was time for a little more challenge. We are supplementing with Saxon but her main lessons and quizzes/tests are going to be out of this book.
- Grammar: ABeka Language B Last year we did Wordly Wise. This year we are focusing more on the grammar rules and proper placement of the parts of speech which Wordly Wise focused mainly on vocabulary.
- Science: ABeka Science – Observing Gods World Last year we used ABeka for science also. I cannot speak highly enough about it.
- History: ABeka History – New World History and Geography Last year we studied Old World History and Geography. I, again, cannot speak highly enough about the depth of these history books.
- Health: ABeka Health – Choosing Good Health This is our first year doing Health, so I’ll let you know how it goes!
- Reading Comprehension: ABeka – Read and Think
————————————————————————————————–
Elijah: Age 9

- Math: Saxon 54 – We used this same book last year and didn’t finish by the end of the year.
- Spelling: Words that his tutor comes up with weekly.
- Grammar: ABeka – Language 3 Focusing on grammar rules and parts of speech.
- Science – ABeka – Exploring Gods World We used this book last year. This year we will focus on testing and comprehension.
- History: ABeka- Our American Heritage
- Health: ABeka – Health, Safety and Manners Again, this is the first year we have done this subject.
- Reading Comprehension: ABeka – Read and Think
I am very excited about this year and the expectations on my children. I believe that they can meet every one of the tasks set before them, with the help of our tutor and myself. They will go to Mrs. Marconi’s every Tuesday and Thursday and I will homeschool them Mon-Wed-Fri. I am so thankful for her, she will never know how much easier she makes this for me. She does all of my lesson plans/grades/ and end of year portfolios for Easton and Elijah. All I have to focus on is teaching. There are alot of new topics (Math wise) that Easton will be covering this year, and it helps tremendously to know that I have someone who can explain it to her when I can’t.
We start August 31st and I can not wait! Now, if I could just convince my children…. :ninja:
Be sure to check back tomorrow for a give-away of SpellQuizzer! :w00t:

I’ve heard great things about ABeka. My sister-in-law has used that since the beginning. It sounds like you have a great year planned!
