Spelling made easy!

SpellQuizzer

It is no secret that my son loathes spelling. Getting him to study is like asking a cat to take a bath. It usually results in a knock down drag out brawl. But in the end, he reluctantly goes to his room and studies. (xbox 360 is such a great bargaining tool!) And the dance continues weekly….

Until now.

When I was approached to do a review on SpellQuizzer I was so thrilled with the prospect of something other than the boring “go to your room and study” routine. And then I read this gem on their website:

“Getting a child to practice his or her spelling or vocabulary words can be a struggle. When done manually it’s a slow and tedious process for the child as well as for you. SpellQuizzer makes it fun and easy.”

So what is SpellQuizzer? I am so glad you asked! SpellQuizzer is a spelling program that helps kids learn their spelling and vocabulary words. The SpellQuizzer web site has pre-made downloadable spelling lists that you can download and use with SpellQuizzer, or you can create your very own spelling lists/tests. Your child can also practice their spelling list and much much more! SpellQuizzer also allows you to  record the spelling words  (isnt that cool!), waits for the student to type in the correct spelling and lets the student know how he or she did.

I am so excited to try this out next year!

  1. Interesting. I bet this would help my boys who hate spelling! Can I be included in the drawing even if we aren’t homeschooling? My boys go to public school, but spelling is always a struggle…especially with my son who has reading issues as well!

Sounds like a great tool! I have a whole file of things to do that really hep with spelling, but they are so hands on for me. Something that could occupy one speller while I focused on something else for the other, that would be a fabulous gift! God bless!
