Nothing External…

“Nothing external can steal our right to delight” – Beth Moore

I mentioned in my short post yesterday that I went to a live simulcast seminar that Beth Moore was hosting. Ya’ll, it left me absolutely speechless. She spoke on Desires, and used Psalms 37 & 38 as reference points. When she said the statement above… I stopped dead in my tracks.

Nothing External. Not cancer, not divorce, not depression, not heartbreak.. NOTHING has that right.

Yet we freely give it passage.

We all have something, something that is creeping in and slowly taking over our “delight”. It is as sneaky as the night, and just as determined to put darkness over us. For me, it was brain cancer and a daughter who has medical issues, but for you it could be something totally different. It could be your marriage. You feel like you have lost all grasps of reality, but He hasn’t. It could be depression, you feel like you just can not face another day, but He can. It could be heartbreak… He longs to mend the brokenhearted.

My daughter said something that really grabbed my heart on her blog last night:

GOD CAN melt the coldest hearts and break the the strongest people. GOD can pick you up brush you off and give you that extra push. God holds you close to his heart and hears your cry’s and feels your pain your cuts your bruises.

The things of this earth are external. They are but a blink, a millisecond, yet they are so very important to us. He knows that. Yet, He longs for us to see things with eternal eyes, because he is not in the business of making our lives HERE as easy as He can… He has our ETERNAL good at heart.

Yet he hears our every sigh.

All my longings lie open before you, O lord. My sighing is not hidden from you.Psalms 38:9

Till faith becomes sight, Trust…{and sigh!}

    I believe that God allows us to keep our “thorn in the flesh” whatever it may be because just because…without the thorn we might not need Him, God knows that so I believe my “thorn” is here to stay because the Lord wants me to stay beside Him, not leave Him which I think I would have.

    One thought that “slapped” me right in the face was,
    “Lord, why did you not call me 30 years from now, so I could have some fun first” and really it caught me off guard, no doubt suffering brings us to our knees.

    Dear Easton,
    Thank you so much for the reminder that God will scoop us up, dust us off, and hold us close. I am definitely in need of a good scooping and dusting! Your post reminded me of where I need to look for that kind of love. Thank you!
