Sorry about the lateness of this update, we were waiting on Transplant to round and they just left. Nothing much has changed today with Emma. The Neurologist came in yesterday because of her issues in the OR and Emma responded appropriately to stimuli so she feels that there is no worries neurologically. Occupation and Physical Therapy were consulted because she has been in bed now for 15 days. She has hand splints on both wrists because they do not want her wrist muscles to tighten. The are talking about taking her chest tube out in the next 48 hours, and then extubation (removal of the breathing tube) but they want to make sure that her lungs do not have any fluid in them first. Her kidney function numbers are back in normal range (BUN: 23 and Creatinine: .82) They want her BUN to be less than 25 and her creatinine less than 1.0. Her heart biopsy showed no rejection (Praise God!) and her lungs are the healthiest they have been since she was admitted. No news on when she will be off dialysis but we she is right on track according to her Nephrologist.
Mark and I are holding up as well as we can. We take it moment by moment and cling to the positives in the situation. We actually got away this afternoon for a little while, so that was good. This definitely makes us appreciate all of the little things that she does that we overlook, like the little sounds that she makes and her contagious laugh
We long to hear those sounds again soon!
Hug your babies,

Heather – I am praying for our little one. Emma grabbed my heart a long time ago and I have often reflected on your strength in your adversities when facing my own and am tempted to toss my faith to the wind. Thank you for the updates.
Thank you for the update. Prayers continue on your behalf. Emma is a fighter (just like her Mom). Love and hugs are sent from Texas throughout the day, everyday. God Bless.

Hugging my babies as I intercede for you and yours. Our Seth is medically-fragile and has autism, and Hannah has cerebral palsy, so I am familiar with moment-by-moment living and can testify that God’s grace is indeed sufficient. Praising Him for His care and provision for you all,
Dana
