Happy Belated Birthday, Heather.

My daughter has Down syndrome and autism, and a whole host of medical problems. I found your blog from reading Eliot’s story, at http://www.elliotsblog.com/elliots-story-on-oprah-99-balloons. There was a single post there, just a day or two after you were diagnosed with cancer that said, “if you pray, pray for Heather” with a link to your page. I came to read your story, fell in love with Emma, and had read ever since.

Looking back over it, i know the book is pretty controversial and simply written. I think what I enjoyed about it was the overall story and thought behind it. Just wanted to clarify that it has its issues, but still I enjoyed it and it did move me.

I have read your posts over the years and you’re posts have really touched my life. I have rarely commented but I read a book yesterday that a neighbor gave to me called “Heaven is for real”. I don’t know if you’ve read it but I feel compelled to mention it. It’s a beautiful book, I cried lots while reading it, but wow. Thinking of you and your journey today.

Heather, I love your openness and transparency to share your struggles and your pain through this season of your life. He is faithful! He is right there beside you. I know you know this. I cannot imagine those days when you feel as if you are drowning in your pain. So thankful for the live raft that He continually puts out for me!

I know you are in pain but the Lord will heal you in his time. You are faithful to him and he will be faithful to you. If necessary just read water and the Lord will bring you to shore.

Memories followed by despair and grief come flooding in when a significant day comes around. How can it be a year? How can I miss her so much my heart is breaking? Why doesn’t this pain go away? Will I ever be ok again? Etc.. God know and feels your pain. Jesus will make a way for you to be whole again…not the same, but whole. You have been on my heart. Anniversaries are hard. Even though we have never met, know that you are loved and prayed for by many of us out here in cyber land.

Hi Heather, I just found your blog through YSC. Awesome to find another woman of faith going through a cancer journey and losing a child. My story is much different, but I can still relate and am thankful for your openess! praying for your family!

Hi Heather,
Happy belated birthday. I’ve been reading your blog for about two years. I don’t remember how I got here but I check in fairly often to see how you are doing. I sent your site to a friend of mine who was battling with cancer and had a strong faith like yours. She lost her battle and is safe in the arms of Jesus like your sweet Emma.

Heather, we met several years ago at a She Speaks conference.
Your blog entries are heart felt and encouraging. Real. Honest.
His grace is enough…..
God bless you today as you remember Emma Grace.
I’m sure my husband has already met up in heaven and taught her all about planting a garden!
I am so thankful we grieve with Hope and know we will see our loved ones again!
